Rants: stupid busstops and stupid emails.

its been a while since i last touched the com.
its not as if we have all the time in the world but thanks piggo mx for reminding me!~
haha its sweet and touching to know that there's someone who actually cares about what you write & how is your life=)

anyway~
FIRST OF ALL: HAPPY BIRTHDAY VVP!!

OH but thats not the gist of this post..
after having a mini celebration @ pizza hut,
i went to the busstop outside shell and opp bukit timah plaza to wait for my dear 157.
to my horror, when i reached the busstop,
the filthing busstop was stinking of petroleum and ,most annoyingly, EXHAUST FUMES.

it wasnt that bad at the HC busstop.
so i analysed the situation and tried to determine what's wrong w that place.
oh well, its not that hard to see lah,
the busstop was WAY too close to the bloody damn road.
everytime a car or lorry zoomed past, you can feel the heat radiating from the vehicles.
everytime a bus stops in front of you, you can literally feel the dust and soot and everything polluting the air you breathe.
Worse of all, its the stupid toxic gas and particles

A World Bank report, The World Development Indicators 2008, indicates that traffic congestion in urban areas damages people’s health and degrades the quality of life.

“The fumes emitted by motor vehicles — dust and soot in exhaust — is far more damaging to human health than once believed,” the report states.

Budigi Ruharara, a chemist at the department of chemistry at Makerere University says: “Ideally when fuel burns in an engine at a temperature of about 3000 degrees Celsius you should get carbon dioxide, water and energy since it is made up of hydrocarbons.

But this is not the case because fuel has additives like lead in petrol and impurities such as sulphur in diesel.”

Ruharara explains that when diesel burns, it produces compounds of oxygen, nitrogen and sulphur. When the nitrate oxide mixes with water it produces sulphuric or nitric acid.

“However, not all motorised engines undergo complete combustion. Often there is incomplete combustion and this produces carbon dioxide, carbon, carbon monoxide, and water from all fuels used in engines. "

The outcome of lead, sulphur and nitrogen in combustion is also dangerous to health.

“When breathed in, the lining of your respiratory systems gets inflamed, eventually reducing diffusion of oxygen and carbon dioxide, thus subjecting the body to reduced oxygen and retained carbon dioxide,” he says.

He explains that carbon monoxide also has a direct effect on the brain, eyes, ears and other vital sensory organs.

but actually anyone who studied bio or chem or physics or geog in sec school should know!
tsk.
and the saddest thing is that
everyday,
there are MANY kids from peihwa pri sch who wait for buses at that busstop!
can you imagine for maybe 2 to 4 years, they have been breathing such polluted air daily.
Even though they dont usually wait for 157(i observed), which means their waiting time is shorter but seriously, the damage can be severe.
moreover, they are kids.

its just terrible.
My throat started feeling tight and constricted and my eyes started watering even after 10 mins of simply standing there.
Or maybe its just me and my sensitive respiratory tract/eyes.

oh well, you cant blame the LTA, there isnt enought space to build a busstop any further away from the road..so..

i shall rant about the next subject... stupid chain emails.
i know ppl dont really send me such stuff anymore because i used to reply them with words of disgust etc..
nowadays, i dont really care about such emails either.
however, since im in a pretty foul mood today,
i was kinda pissed when the first thing i saw was an email from a friend that supposedly read: FW: *some sweet words*

then goes some random stuff about relationship(as usual)
and then some sweet quotes..

AND THEN
the irritating stuff that makes me go :"wth"
like: PLs pass this chain on and the love of your life will call you at 12 midnight today.

OMG. it so scary can.
imagine you totally dont know who's the love of your life now and someone random just call you in the middle of the night claiming his love for you.. ewww.. totally unromantic.

well, thats not my point..

what really triggered my "WTH!!" reaction was that besides those silly /desperate stuff, they HAVE to add this threat/curse at the end.
like: you will send this back if you are my friend
and :if you dont you will be cursed with an unhappy relationship for life.

to that person who sent me this msg : *(^&^*%&$!&#!!
